SPRING & SUMMER MAKEOVER TIPS

Makeovers:

I don't believe makeovers have to be completed in one day.  I'm of the opinion that when you want to change your look it should be taken in steps.  Here are some tips to remain comfortable in your skin yet display a fabulous new look over a period of time.  You can do something wonderful for yourself each month. By the end of the summer your makeover will be complete.

1.) Start with your inner self, how do I feel about myself?  Why do I think I need or want a makeover?   Once you have answered these questions start with the outer.  Are there any skin or teeth issues?   Do I want to lose weight? Once this is complete onto the next step.

2.) Start with a  new hair style, if your hair is curly change to wearing it straight or from long to short.

3.) Next go into your closet and look at your spring & summer wardrobe. Before you dash out and buy all new clothes see what you have already.  Let's say you have a favorite tan or white linen suit that you've worn 2-3 seasons already; just retool it by taking the pants or skirt with you shopping, match it with a new bold multi colored chiffon blouse or a pale coral rose cotton sweater . If it's a long skirt have it shorten or pants have them tailored to walking shorts.

4.) After you have sorted out what you will be wearing this season, organize your closet. Your work  dress & casual clothes should each have it's own section in your closet.  You will be amazed at how wonderful  you feel when you know where all of your garments are when you're ready to get dressed!

5.) REMEMBER STYLE IS MORE THAN JUST YOUR CLOTHING...

STYLE ICON EDITH HEAD

When I think of  style I think of FASHION ICON-DESIGNER Edith Head.  She was an american costume designer who had a long career in hollywood.  I loved her work with Audrey Hepburn for the movie"Roman Holiday"...during her long career she garnered 8 academy awards from 1948 until 1966 more than any other woman in history.  Ms. Head was able to connect the movie script with the actor which produced a timeless creation. Edith Head's design's were work's of art- not just clothing to cover your body- they added a feeling of glamor and confidence. I fondly remember seeing pictures of  her in those trademark tented eyeglasses. How wonderful to see a resurgence of old hollywood on the runway. Let's all ESCAPE TO STYLE....

FINDING ONE'S OWN VOICE

What a great feeling when you find your own voice!  I felt going into 2011 that I had finally found what
I really wanted to do in life...I'd always heard from others that you would truly know what your passion was when you were willing to do it for "free"...It's been a long road trying to find out what that might be!  I never knew or didn't have the confidence to know what I was good at doing so I could provide for myself.   Never thought  my life's experience would be the very thing that would be my voice.   I'm able now to freely give to other's what I've found to be true.  The book I wrote which at first was only suppose to be about fashion ended up becoming my voice. I'm overjoyed when I'm able to connect with  friends I've known for years or people I meet for the first time while talking about "On the Other Side of STYLE"  or my nonprofit "Journey Inc".  My Dreams=My Journey=My Voice=FREEDOM!

Love and Kisses,
George
